Abstract:
This short guide for teachers is based on Research-Based Principles for Adult Basic Education Reading Instruction (Kruidenier, J.R. 2002). It addresses the components of reading-alphabetics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension - defining each term, highlighting its importance, describing how it is assessed, and exploring its implications for the classroom.
