Abstract:
This report provides an "in-depth look" at adult ESL services at the City College of San Francisco, considered an exemplary program by many ESL professionals. The research is based on "records tracking all students over a seven-year period enrolled in CCSF's credit [38,000+ students] and non-credit [6,600 students] ESL programs. "The primary focus is on persistence, learning gains, and transition to credit studies, and on the success in credit courses of non-credit ESL students." The report is intended to assist "those who plan and design community college ESL programs" to assess and develop services.
