Activity Description

Craiyon Home Page

ESL students will generate an image to assess whether the AI prompt that they typed demonstrates mastery of their English skills.

Preparation

  1. Check the website to ensure it is not blocked at your site.
  2. Read through the lesson plan.
  3. Print and make copies of any handouts.

How-To

Craiyon is a free AI image generator that produces images based on a prompt.

No sign-up is required. However, free accounts generate base-quality images and have watermarks. Also, users may experience wait times.

Students simply visit the website, type in a prompt, click "Draw now", and Craiyon generates one image according to the prompt.

If the image is not what they wanted, they can try again. It permits an unlimited number of images.

Teacher Tips

It's recommended that you try out the app a few times to see how it works and so you can model it for your students before they use it.

See the lesson plan.

More Ways

There are many sites that will generate free AI images. 2 other popular ones are Canva and Raphael.
