Technology and Distance Learning for California Adult Education
OTAN recently submitted to the California Department of Education a report entitled Technology and Distance Learning for California Adult Education. As the Introduction states, "This report provides a broad overview of the state of distance learning in Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA), Title II Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) funded adult schools and colleges in California with recommendations for further research." The report is meant to capture both qualitative and quantitative analysis and evaluation based on data from both OTAN and CASAS from Program Year 2020-2021 of what, and how, adult education agencies are serving California.
The report covers a wide range of topics, including enrollment data, student access to and use of technology, teacher use of technology and thoughts about technology integration, waiting lists, and barriers to learning. There is also a section devoted to case studies of large, mid, and small size agencies. Finally, the report concludes with a section on factors that should be considered for future research and reporting.
