Resources to Close the Digital Divide
In recent months, there has been a flurry of activity focused on bringing resources to the effort to close the digital divide across the country. It is important for adult education to be aware of these resources and how we can be a part of the effort in our communities and California to help our students stay connected to their education, work, and lives using technology.
Take a look at these recent articles to learn more about resources available for individuals, schools, and state and local leaders:
-
Helping Students, Families, and Communities Access the Internet and Technology-Enabled Learning Opportunities from the US Department of Education which discusses the Affordable Connectivity Program and the Internet for All initiative which encompasses a number of programs, including the Digital Equity Act, the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, and the Enabling Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Program.
-
Digital Equity Now: A Call to Action for Adult Education Leadership from our partner WorldEd which discusses how adult education stakeholders can be a part of discussions happening at the state level to determine how money and resources will be used to close the digital divide locally.
