This report identifies corporate philanthropy as a major contributor to "sustaining and improving America's system of adult literacy service, and...to improving the literacy of large numbers of adult Americans." According to the authors, the most "distinctive [and, in some cases, the only substantial] contributions are [corporate-based and are] for innovations in service, program improvement, and institution building."
