Abstract:
This report looks at adult residents of the U.S. who spoke another language as children. It explores the fluency and literacy of the population in their native languages and in English as compared with their employment patterns and earnings. Findings indicated that the economic success of immigrants who enter the U.S. after age 12 is dependent on participation in adult English literacy classes.
