Abstract:
This fact sheet briefly summaries the opportunities for volunteers in adult literacy programs in the United States. Characteristics of volunteer instruction and agency contact information is given. Online users should be aware that as of 2012, the federal volunteer structure was basically unchanged. However, the two independent volunteer literacy organizations featured in the fact sheet, Literacy Volunteers of America (LVA) and Laubach Literacy Action (LLA), merged in 2002 to form ProLiteracy www.proliteracy.org/?
