Abstract:
This report reviews the experiences of three states--Idaho, Massachusetts, and Michigan--with increasing the participation of welfare recipients participation in work and work-related activities. The policy and procedures followed are discussed and the results analyzed. This research was undertaken to predict success of the federal welfare reform legislation, TANF(Temporary Assistance to Needy Families), which was enacted in 1996 to replace the AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) program.
