This document is the testimony of the Director of Education, Workforce, and Income Security Issues, Health, education, and Human Services Division, U.S. General Accounting Office, before the Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education, Training and Life-long Learning, Committee on Education and the workforce; the Subcommittee on Human Resources, Committee on Ways and Means, House of Representatives. It summarizes the steps that states have made in implementing WIA and the extent to which TANF services are integrated into the new workforce investment system.
