OTAN Tech Talk on HyperDocs and Rescheduled OERs Webinar Coming Up!
Please join us for OTAN's next Tech Talk on Friday, November 8 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm PST. This month's Tech Talk is on Creating and Using HyperDocs by Sara Nickles and Sandi Watts from the Long Beach School for Adults.
HyperDocs are thoughtfully created, online, interactive worksheets using visually engaging Google Docs or Google Slides, which contain hyperlinks to other documents, images, text, videos, and activities. HyperDocs are a great way to use technology to teach and an effective way to encourage student-driven learning. HyperDocs can be utilized in all levels and content areas of adult education. (Note that classes must have access to student computers and teachers need to have the ability to share documents online with students through Google Classroom or Google Sites.) Also join us for an OTAN webinar on Wednesday, November 6 from 3:00 to 4:00 (postponed from October 17). The topic is OERs in Adult Education, presented by Diana Vera-Alba from San Diego CCD. There are many free, customizable, and editable resources for adult educators and their learners. By using Open Educational Resources (OERs) in the classroom and online, teachers and agencies can save money, revise and refresh curriculum, and give learners an opportunity to customize their learning. This webinar will introduce participants to the basics of OERs: what are they, how can you find them, and considerations for determining their quality for use in your classroom.
