Upcoming OTAN Activities to Support Adult Educators – Weeks of 11/22 and 11/29

OTAN provides resources for our adult education colleagues who are teaching and supporting their learners remotely. (All times below are PST.)

  • The OTAN office is open on Monday and Tuesday, November 22 and 23 and closed Wednesday through Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

  • Visit OTAN's COVID-19 Field Support webpage with relevant information for teachers, students, and administrators: COVID-19 Field Support

  • OTAN Office Hours provide an opportunity to ask more detailed questions and get support on specific tools to use with students. You can sign up for these OTAN Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar:

    • Monday, November 29 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
    • Friday, December 3 from 10:00am to 12:00noon

  • On Tuesday, November 30 at 1:00pm, Alisa Takeuchi will present HyFlex: Simultaneous Instruction. Hybrid-Flexible or HyFlex is where instruction is delivered through in-class instruction, during synchronous video sessions, or a combination of those two. This presentation gives teachers and staff ideas as well as information on how to deliver content and instruction using HyFlex.   • On Friday, December 3 at 2:00pm, Jennifer Gagliardi will present Make it Stick! Creating A Great Vocabulary Lesson. In this workshop, participants will be shown techniques for vocabulary retention and use. Bring a vocabulary list and be ready to transform it into something magical that will stick!
