TDLS 2022 - Students as Digital Navigators: Reimagining CTE in the Age of COVID
TDLS
In Fall 2020, HCCTS created a novel Career Technical Education course designed for high school and English Language Development students which prepares them to become Community Digital Navigators. Utilizing Google's Applied Digital Skills curriculum and the Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment platform, students are upskilling to better prepare them for this emergent role and position them to help (other) adult learners at schools and other community-based organizations elevate digital literacy and provide access to technology and support. The long-term impact on adult students may include entry or reentry into the workforce, career advancement, and generational change. Through an interactive presentation, including multimedia, discussion, and Q&A, participants will learn how to design, implement, and facilitate the Community Digital Navigator Career Technical Education course at their own agencies.
