TDLS 2022 - Integrate Tech and Create Community in Collaborative Writing Activities

There are numerous benefits of using images and videos: to spark students’ interest, engage and motivate students in course content, hold students’ concentration, increase participation, and help students retain what they have learned (Patesan, M., Balagiu, A., Alibec,C., 2018; Halwani.2017).The Just Write! Guide advocates for collaborative writing: "Learners working together through the entire process of writing—planning, drafting, revising, and editing—results in higher quality products." The presenter will demonstrate how free online content can be incorporated in lessons to have students, working together, demonstrate their ability to produce in writing the vocabulary, verb tenses, parts of speech, and other grammar structures they are learning in activities that result in original written texts. Attendees will take part in demonstrations of some of these high-interest engaging activities, which range from picture prompts for vocabulary review to short films for summary writing.
