Titles and Topics

OTAN offers in-person, virtual, and hybrid professional development in the form of presentations, workshops, and conference sessions for adult educators and staff throughout California. OTAN Professional Development is provided at no cost and includes all course materials. Qualifying adult education agencies may request customizations to any topic to meet the professional development needs for their program and staff.

Requirements

OTAN presentations and workshops may be scheduled as in-person, virtual, or hybrid flexible (Hyflex) as requested. The desired outcome of every OTAN session is that participants will have a working understanding of the applications or topics modeled or discussed and be able to execute those new skills into their own instruction.

OTAN staff will attempt to cover all skill levels present and provide step-by-step instruction where requested.

Titles and topics covered can be customized to meet the specific needs of a requesting adult education agency, consortium, or approved site.

All Session Requirements

  1. At least 10 participants are registered to attend 10 business days before the scheduled event.*
  2. There must be one device (i.e., desktop, laptop, Chromebook) for every individual registered in a workshop unless otherwise designated a “Bring your own device” event.
  3. Devices must have current, up-to-date browser versions installed (i.e., Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari) as well as other applications as they apply (i.e., Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, etc.)

In-Person or HyFlex Session Requirements

  1. A site’s network and bandwidth must be open and of sufficient speed to allow all registrants access to workshop dependent apps, content, and Web sites at the same time.
  2. The trainer or presenter must be able to use a projection station (desktop and projector) or be able to connect their device to the site network and projector.
  3. There should be a screen or a flat single-colored area onto which a projection is easily viewable.
